Enshrinement Activities Postponed Due to COVID-19
ARLINGTON, Texas – Due to public health concerns as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, May 6 has been postponed. Â
Bry Patton, the Chairman of the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association, said he and the bowl's Executive Committee have reached the decision to push the induction event to a date later in the summer or early fall.
Â
"As a precautionary measure for everyone's health, we have determined it is necessary to move the enshrinement ceremony until later in the year," said Patton. "Our Board of Directors and staff will be mindful of the continuing developments related to the coronavirus and monitor the situation closely.
Â
"Honoring the Class of 2020 is something we look forward to with great anticipation," said Patton. "However, our primary concern is everyone's health and safety. We will be in close communication with our state and community leaders in the weeks and months ahead and at the appropriate time will reschedule our Hall of Fame activities."
Â
The 12th Class of the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame will honor Kansas State quarterback Jonathan Beasley, Notre Dame split end Tom Gatewood, Arkansas guard and Owner/President/General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys Jerry Jones, Ole Miss running back/wide receiver Dexter McCluster, Texas defensive end Cory Redding, Boston College linebacker Bill Romanowski, and Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder.
Â
Once rescheduled, the hour-long ceremony will take place in Arlington's AT&T Stadium. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
