Biography

As he was working on a doctorate degree in humanities, Memphis quarterback Brady White was named CoSIDA Academic All-District, as voted by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.

White garnered conference recognition as a two-time member of the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team in 2018 and 2019. The redshirt junior quarterback also earned institutional honors as a Tiger 3.0 Club member and a Dean’s List recipient for the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters. Before transferring from Arizona State to Memphis, White was named to the 2016 Pac-12 Conference All-Academic First Team (QB).

On the field, White was named a finalist for the 2019 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and a finalist for the 2019 Manning Award. The Newhall, Calif., native garnered Second Team All-Conference honors after throwing for 3,560 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2019. He set career-highs in completions (28 at Temple) and yards (363 at Temple), while also matching a career-best with two five-touchdowns games in 2019 (vs. Tulane and at Houston). His 64.1 completion percentage as a junior ranked third in Memphis single-season history.

After passing for five touchdowns and rushing for one in Memphis’ road win at Houston in 2019, White was named the AAC Offensive Player of the Week. He also garnered weekly honors from the Davey O’Brien Award and the Manning Award three times.

With another season to go, White’s 6,856 yards in his two years at Memphis placed him fourth all-time in program history in career passing, while his 59 career passing touchdowns ranked third. Overall, White entered the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic with seven 300-yard passing performances and 18 multi-touchdown passing games in his career. On the ground, White had four rushing touchdowns with three of them coming in 2019.

Off the field, White spent time in the Memphis community with the Boys and Girls Club, Shelby County Schools and LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. The junior also volunteered with the Wilder Youth Detention Center, the Humane Society and the Joy Jars project.
