Biography
Kansas State senior safety Tysyn Hartman was the true definition of “scholar-athlete.”. Hartman was one of 16 finalists among all NCAA divisions and the NAIA for the prestigious 2011 Campbell Trophy, also known as the “Academic Heisman.”
Hartman accumulated a 3.57 GPA in finance and was a two-time CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-district honoree, a four-time Academic All-Big 12 scholar, and he became K-State’s first First-Team Academic All-American since 2001. He graduated in three and a half years with a degree in finance and qualified for the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll every semester of his college career.
A three-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Hartman volunteered for multiple community service projects during his time at Kansas State, including Adopt-a-Family and the Special Olympics.
On the field, Hartman started his last three seasons as a safety after entering the program as a quarterback. A two-year team captain and two-time All-Big 12 selection, Hartman logged 251 career tackles and nine interceptions, which rank ninth in school history. He also had 62 tackles and two interceptions as a senior and helped lead Kansas State to a 10-2 regular season finish and second straight bowl appearance.
