Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic

Tulane senior linebacker Nick Anderson was named the Dan S. Petty Scholar-Athlete from the Green Wave participating in the 87th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

A second-team All-American Athletic Conference selection, Anderson enters the postseason tied for the team lead in forced fumbles with two, sits second on the squad with 108 tackles and ranks fifth among Tulane defenders with 6.0 tackles for loss.
His presence on the defensive side has been consistent throughout the season, registering double figures in tackles in five games and leading or tying for the team lead in tackles in four games. The two-time AAC Defensive Player of the Week tied his career high with 14 tackles, along with a forced fumble, against Houston on Sept. 30. Anderson was all over the field in the two games to close the regular season with back-to-back, 12-tackle performances against SMU on Nov. 17 and Cincinnati on Nov. 25. In the AAC Football Championship against UCF on Dec. 3, he recorded eight tackles and was credited with a half sack in the Green Wave's victory in the friendly confines of Yulman Stadium.

For his career, Anderson has tallied 278 tackles in 47 games with 24 starts. He has played and started in all 13 games this season and anchored a Green Wave defensive unit that has helped propel the program to its best season since 1998.

Anderson, a two-time William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist in 2021 and 2022, was selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Division I Football team with a 3.583 GPA majoring in homeland security studies. He was the 2021 male recipient of the Wilson Award at Tulane, which honors one male and one female Green Wave student-athlete annually who embody leadership qualities on and off the fields of play.
Anderson is as active off the field as he has been on the field during his time in the Crescent City. He has been a leader in his team's community service activities in New Orleans and remains highly involved in community service efforts in his hometown of Vicksburg, Miss.
